A quick art break with a visit to the Dallas Museum of Art

During a recent holiday family trip to Dallas, Steve and I ventured to downtown Dallas. Our goal was a visit to the Dallas Museum of Art, with a little Mexican food too!  It had been at least 15 years since I last visited the museum. Museums are one of those places that physically don’t change much.  The art of course likely has changed, but I would not say I am an art aficionado!

The museum is actually free to visit, but they get you with the $15 parking.  We did decide to buy tickets to the Van Gogh and the Olive Groves Special Exhibit as an add on to our visit.  Amy has mentioned this in a few previous posts, and I agree with her-timed tickets to museums are one of the good outcomes of COVID. And I’ve got to think it was an improvement over the immersive Van Gogh show that Amy reviewed on the blog last year.

We really enjoyed the Van Gogh exhibit, largely since the paintings were completed during his time in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. We were lucky enough to visit there a couple of years ago, so it was a fun reminder of our travels.  The exhibit runs until February 6, 2022, so you still have time for a visit if you are in Dallas.

We also took some time to visit the permanent collection. The galleries were relatively empty and quiet- just the way I like it!

We love dogs! 🙂

After our visit to the Dallas Museum of Art, we headed across the street to Mi Cocina– which happens to be the Two California Sisters’ pick for best Tex Mex chain in Dallas! Of course, I had the individually served nachos.  I believe you can only find these in Texas, and I enjoyed every bite!
