Here are a few things that are getting better

It is very easy to fall into the trap of thinking that the world is getting worse. Especially if you spend any time reading the news- wow, it is depressing out there. But I’ve been tracking a list of a few things that are getting better. Because it’s not all bad news out there!

Cheddar says that things have never been better in his life! 🙂

It was crazy easy to set up our new Orbi mesh system

I’ve mentioned how we needed to upgrade a few tech items around the house. Well, we replaced the 6 year old Orbi system with a new one. And it was so much easier to set up than it was back then. A real improvement!

We are finally get some options to Comcast

Comcast Xfinity was a pain in the rear. And when the monthly price almost doubled in May, and Dear Husband wasn’t able to negotiate them down, it was time for another option. Luckily, we finally have one in the East Bay! Verizon Wifi is cheaper, easier to set up, and super fast. Definitely one of the things that are getting better.

Self-checkout seems more efficient

After many years of frustrating self-checkout experiences, I think it’s finally getting better. Not sure if it’s a technology thing- or frankly, it might be that we are all just more skilled at using self-checkout. Whatever the reason, it’s finally a viable option.

Mobile ordering ahead at Starbucks

What did we do before being able to before ordering ahead at Starbucks? And clearly, I am not alone in thinking this is a massive improvement. Because mobile, drive-through and delivery are 74% of Starbucks orders these days.

And even better, you can order ahead at airports! I noticed this wonderful development at Love Field in Dallas. Y’all, humanity is making progress!

Gen X is finally taking over…

My generation is having its likely brief moment in the sun, before the millennials take over. But I’ll enjoy the next decade, as we dominate the C-suite and business landscape. Can’t say I’ll miss the Boomer ethos.

… And pushing back on Return to Office plans

I subscribe to the Kastle weekly office occupancy updates by email, and each Tuesday morning, I smile. Because American workers, led by Gen X, are pushing back on the crazy RTO mandates from their employers. The occupancy % across US offices has only barely gotten above 50% a few weeks- most of the time, it’s around 48-49%. So while some of us may need to trudge into the office on a regular basis, the battle continues between employers and employees. And employees are holding firm!

It’s cheaper and easier to read articles across the internet

Paywalls and article limits are a reality these days. But there are various ways to easily get around paywalls- making it a lot easier to read what I want to read. I like Achieve Today. If you aren’t comfortable using that, you can subscribe to Apple News for $9.99 a month. You’ll be able to read a lot of top publications, including WSJ and The Atlantic. And it’s a lot cheaper than subscribing to each individually.

What are some things you are celebrating as getting better and better? Do share in the comments 🙂
