More tips to make your life just a little bit easier

Don’t worry! This blog isn’t becoming a “life hack” blog 🙂 But I seem to be coming across some good tips recently- and I want to share more tips with our dear readers. Many of these originate from something painful I have experienced. And although my fluid intelligence is fading, my crystallized intelligence is on the upswing! And you are the lucky beneficiaries….

Bonus tip: Take more photos of the people, pets and places you love!

Tips for a better IMAX experience

Dear Husband and I ventured to the local IMAX theater to see the latest Mission Impossible. And it was terrific- no doubt about it. But two tips would have helped me have a better experience…

Reserve a seat at least 9-10 rows back

I had us reserved in the 5th row- and it was just too damn close. And that brings me to my second tip…

Bring sound protective earplugs

Trust me on this. The sound was BOOMING in that theater. The trailers were the worst- I had my fingers in my ears the entire time. But even the actual movie was deafening in spots. Next time, I’m bringing something like this:

Quiet Ear Plugs for Noise Reduction

Determine how you want to show up in advance

I’ve had a couple of difficult conversations and situations recently. And guess what? They all turned out just fine- because I did some prework. I determined how I wanted to show up-and then I executed on the plan. Here’s what I did:

  • I recognized that the conversation or situation might be challenging
  • I thought about what could go wrong and what part I would play in that
  • I determined what action/attitude/approach I could go in with to avoid a negative outcome
  • I gave myself a little pep talk right before the event, in order to remind myself of the plan

Of course, this isn’t always possible- some situations come out of the blue. But this approach has so far served me very well- and I’m just sad it took me this long to figure it out!

Get strategic about using your credit card reward points

Just learned about Seats.Aero as a one stop shop for reward travel. The website is a little 2010 in terms of look and feel, but it gets the job done.

Choose the airline rewards plan you want to search, and seats.aero comes back with all the available award seats. This can be super helpful when trying to score business class seats somewhere super desirable.

OK you guys- your turn, share more tips in the comments!
