When I originally drafted this post, it was October, and Dear Husband and I were planning for an anniversary dinner. Alas, the Bay Area shut down outdoor dining around that time. Hence the reason for so many picnic posts on our blog! So it has taken us a bit of time to get back to Telefèric Barcelona, but I am so glad that we did! It’s the best (and only) option for tapas in Walnut Creek.
Now that we can dine outdoors in the Bay Area, a place like Telefèric Barcelona is a perfect place to visit. We scheduled a family lunch with a friend and met at their Walnut Creek location. Telefèric Barcelona is an interesting restaurant chain. They have locations in Walnut Creek and Palo Alto, as well as two restaurants in Spain. Seems a bit random- but I’m not complaining! And although the restaurant offers takeout and delivery, I don’t think this kind of food really lends itself to being packaged up in a box and driven to someone’s house. It’s almost artistic in its presentation, and I think a lot would get lost by the time it got to my kitchen.
There’s a nice selection of tapas and paella; we ordered 7-8 items and they were all delicious. And quite an extensive drinks menu. We noticed quite a few fellow diners ordering sangria and other pretty cocktails.
This space is great for outdoor dining in all seasons. Walnut Creek can get very hot in the summer, so the shade is welcome. And this space allows for some shelter and heat lamps during the winter.
It felt almost like pre-COVID times, having a normal lunch with a friend and the family. Dear Husband even wore something other than sweatpants (me too!)
Highly recommend a visit if you are in the neighborhood (or in Spain, you lucky duck!) It was a lot of fun to enjoy a delicious meal of tapas in Walnut Creek at Telefèric Barcelona with friends.
