Tips for a great weekend trip to Charleston, SC

We were recently in Charleston with friends and I wanted to share a few found nuggets. If you haven’t been to Charleston and like a bit of history, beach and amazing food, get your ticket and go!

We’ve enjoyed doing some travels with friends this year, and our trip to Charleston was no exception. I’m sharing a few of my favorite places to eat and things to do.

Any trip to Charleston, in my opinion, has to involve a lot of good eating! Brown’s Court Bakery is a great spot to stop as you walk around the historic district of Charleston.

As you can see from the menu, they offer fresh baked goods made in house and coffee drinks.  They 86 items as they sell out so go early if you are picky!  We went a couple mornings and tried a few different items.  There are a couple tables outside to eat but we took our tasty items to Marion Square and made a picnic of it.

We took a Lyft to Sullivan Island and rented bikes for an afternoon.  You can ride on the beach which is fun, but tough if you are going against the wind or in deep sand.  We also rode our bikes around Isle of Palms and looked at all the amazing beach houses.  Next time we will stay a few nights in Charleston and a few on Isle of Palms.

We had a great lunch at the Obstinate Daugter on Sullivan Island before we headed back to Charleston.  A really fun day!

Lastly is my favorite thing about Charleston – the Coconut Cake from the Planters Inn.  It is truly unbelievable.  You can order it to be shipped anywhere in the US, but I reserve my consumption for trips to Charleston only! And a good thing too- it’s $270 for a cake!
