Unboxing from a new favorite stationery store, CW Pencil Enterprise

As I’ve gotten deeper into my stationery hobby, I’ve been delighted to discover all the passionate creators and owners that inhabit this world. It may be hard to believe, but there are multiple podcasts, YouTube channels, and blogs related to stationery. I’ve loved them all! And they have pointed me in the direction of some really wonderful new finds. This includes the stationery from CW Pencil Enterprise. I just received a small order from this shop, and I want to share my new finds.

A bit of background on CW Pencil

I am a latecomer to the CW Pencil Enterprise phenomenon. The creation of a store in NYC that just sold pencils was big news a few years ago. And the owner, Caroline Weaver, has become one of the more prominent member of the stationery community as a result.

She’s even got a TED talk, celebrating the humble pencil. (Which is really not so simple….) And a shout-out by the New Yorker. I’d say that she’s “made it” in terms of being in the cultural zeitgeist 🙂

And when Caroline decided to revamp the store and start selling pens (among other stationery items), it made the news. Personally, I love that she has been able to pivot to something (slightly) new, add a lot of new products and still stay in the stationery business. We need more passionate creators and entrepreneurs. (and frankly, it’s up to us in this hobby to support them, rather than just relying on Amazon!)

All of this is just interesting background to the fact that the stationery at CW Pencil is incredibly well-curated and worth a look.

What I picked up

Very careful packaging, a nice note and a sticker

My main purpose in ordering from CW Pencil was the Rivoli stationery– which is my new favorite. I’ve been writing a lot of letters to my new penpals across the world (thanks InCoWriMo!) and this lovely blue German stationery is wonderful.

I also picked up a couple of CW Pencil exclusives- a spiral notebook and a sample of custom pencils. Because- of course you’ve got to try the pencils!

As much as I love the convenience of online shopping, I am hopeful that I will make to the actual store in NYC, perhaps this summer. Wouldn’t that be crazy?? Shopping in an actual store?? Hope springs eternal…In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy my new purchases and keep an eye on what’s next in stationery at CW Pencil.
