A few terrific new things I’ve found: nail polish, t-shirts, and notebooks

Sometimes it’s the simple things! I’ve stumbled across three terrific new things that I want to share with y’all. And they’re all under $50- in line with my mindful spending plan for 2022. All three are little pick-me-ups that are bringing a smile to my face during the February doldrums.

Hermes nail polish- the best red polish ever

Hermes nail polish

There’s no doubt about this- this is the fanciest nail polish I’ve ever bought. I am pretty rough on nail polish (and on my hands in general.) But this polish delivers- the colors are amazing and this stuff is tough. It’s (gulp) $48 a bottle– but I justify this crazy price by doing my nails at home. A manicure is easily $30 a pop, so by doing my nails twice, I’ve broken even. At least that’s what I tell myself 🙂

The color I bought is the classic French red- called Rouge H. A lot of other people seem to agree with me that it’s the most classic color to buy- it appears to be sold out everywhere. But there are lots of other gorgeous colors- Rouge Casaque is lovely, and Rose Coquille will never fail. And of course, there are dupes out there- for a lot less! But the bottle and color feel very luxurious- probably the least expensive Hermes item you’ll find out there!

Lands’ End long sleeve tee shirts

We’re moving into long sleeve tee shirt time in the Bay Area. It’s cool in the mornings, but in the 70s in the afternoon. So long sleeve tee shirts are a staple for layering- under sweaters in the morning and alone for the afternoon dog walk. I’ve tried a lot of tee shirts during the WFH casual clothing period, and these tee shirts are fantastic. And frankly, ordering them from Amazon, with free and fast shipping, puts them at the top of my list. There are a ton of colors and good size availability. All for less than $24!

Clairefontaine A4 notebooks

I love Smythson- the most luxurious notebooks, beautiful leather goods- all from England. But I’m trying to spend more mindfully, so $250 notebooks ($177 on sale!) are not in my shopping cart right now! But readers of this blog know that I love fountain pens and they demand good paper (sorry Moleskine!) Luckily, I’ve found some notebooks that are fountain pen-friendly and incredibly good value. And they come in A4 (as well as A5) size for a leather notebook cover that I’ve been using lately. A pack of two notebooks is ~$13. Sorry Smythson! Proof that terrific new things don’t have to be super expensive.
