On a recent trip to Charlotte, I brought a few great travel-sized beauty products in my bag to make the experience a little nicer. It really made the challenges of travel more pleasant to have a few special things to use every morning and evening.
Summer is a time when I usually go super low-maintenance. When it’s hot, the last thing I feel like doing is trying new lotions or mascaras. That’s what Fall is for 🙂 But this Summer, it’s been relatively cool and I’ve been in the mood to try some new beauty buys. Luckily, there is no shortage of pampering products out there.
This topic is a little out of left field- unless you know how much everyone in our family adores dogs! And since we’re coming up on a tense election season, I thought something lighthearted for the dog lovers out there might be a welcome diversion.
Senior year in high school is a crazy time, for kids and parents. Especially in post-COVID days, everything feels new and different, tinged with a bit of uncertainty. So I was very happy to hear that Sophie’s Senior Ball is a go. And because I am a planner, I got cracking on getting ready for prom!
My Mason Pearson hairbrushes hold a dear place in my heart. First off, my Mom bought me one when I was young and it was the hairbrush that I used all the way through college. At some point that hairbrush was lost, and when I could afford to replace it, I did. And that hairbrush is the one I use every day, almost thirty years later. And finally, I bought one for Sophie when she was about five years old. Continuing the tradition of Mason Pearson hairbrushes through the generations!
Sometimes it’s the simple things! I’ve stumbled across three terrific new things that I want to share with y’all. And they’re all under $50- in line with my mindful spending plan for 2022. All three are little pick-me-ups that are bringing a smile to my face during the February doldrums.
It may be a bit trite to say that the French have cornered the market on inexpensive beauty products. But honestly, it’s true! When in doubt, just buy what a French woman might find at her local pharmacy. Not only are you assured of something high quality, but the price will likely be quite reasonable. On top of that, these items make my Francophile heart sing 🙂
After Amy posted her write up of how to treat yourself to a luxury mani-pedi at home, I was intrigued to see what she recommended. Loved the Chanel nail polishes- very fancy! But I had to disagree with one of her recommendations…I know what the best nail file is, and I want everyone to know about it.

But I still prefer to do my own luxury mani-pedi at home, for many of the same reasons I would rather watch movies at home. It’s cheaper, I can do it on my own schedule, and I can multitask while I’m doing it. In the case of a mani-pedi, I can do other chores at the same time and put my mani-pedi on pause when I need to. Plus when I save $30-50 a pop by doing it at home, I don’t feel too bad about splurging on fancy nail polish and gear!
