The weather has been wonderful here in Northern California this autumn. (Sadly I know this is due to the drought… hopefully that will change soon!) We decided to take a day before the holiday craziness to head to Marin for some beach time. Here’s a recap of that fun day, in Marin with dogs.
We started the morning at the Marin Country Mart– our regular breakfast spot when arriving in Marin. After a stop at Rustic Bakery and Johnny’s Donuts (yes, this family likes carbs :)) we drove to Muir Beach. It’s one of a few dog-friendly beaches in Marin. And true to form, there were lots of dogs! Including our sweet pup, Cheddar.
Cheddar’s not a huge fan of swimming, but he does like playing with other dogs. And he’ll run into the water to chase down a tennis ball. He’s a border collie, after all. He always enjoys a trip to Marin with dogs like himself, who love sniffing and running.
After watching a fellow paddle out into the bay to check his crab baskets, we headed uphill for a hike. The Muir Beach trailhead heads up the Coastal Fire Road; it’s steep but you will be rewarded with a terrific view once you get there.
After a couple of hours at the beach, it was time for lunch. Dear Husband had done some research and found a new spot for us to try- Hook Fish Co. in Mill Valley.
It is a popular spot, and we did have to wait a while to get our lunch. But it was worth it. Cheddar particularly enjoyed the fish and chips. 🙂
A wonderful autumn day celebrating the best of the Bay Area, in Marin with dogs. We are super lucky to live in such a great place. And I am lucky to have such a lovely family!
