Great ideas to make a Spring trip to Santa Barbara fantastic!

On a recent Spring trip to Santa Barbara, Sophie, Kate and I hit some of our old favorites and a few new ones too. I’m sharing some of the highlights from our wonderful visit. Looking back at the trip- we did a fair amount of eating!

Bacara room key

Overnight at Bacara

Kate, Sophie and I started the visit off with an overnight at the Ritz Carlton. We sat by the pool, used the spa, and generally had a wonderful 24 hours. The property is beautiful; it’s worth a visit.

The staff at Bacara really did it up for Sophie’s high school graduation celebration. She was touched and I have no doubt that we will return for other celebrations.

Dinner at Bettina

Bettina

Bettina is a frequent stop during our trips, and this Spring trip to Santa Barbara was no exception. The food is, as always, wonderful. We tend to order the same things- pizza, bread with butter, the polenta cake. Yes, carbs!!

Bettina

The last time we were there, the restaurant space was largely devoted to take out and delivery. It was great to see the delivery boxes pushed to the side to make room for lots of people eating in.

Santa Barbara harbor boat ride

Kate has written about the fun harbor boat rides available on the Whisperer. And it’s a great addition to your Spring trip to Santa Barbara, before it gets too hot. Kate had arranged for a graduation celebration banner on the boat- which Sophie loved. We had some snacks and beverages. The best part? See all the animals and birds!

Sophie got to captain the boat for a bit, and she dressed the part!

The Whisperer

It was wonderful to spend time with her- every moment seems so precious these days.

Dinner at Tre Lune

Tre Lune

Another favorite when we make the visit to see Kate and Steve is a trip to Tre Lune. No, we didn’t see Ellen alas! But we did eat some really excellent Italian food. Oh my gosh, my mouth is watering, remembering those ravioli….

Visit to the Rose Garden

A Spring trip to Santa Barbara would not be complete without a visit to the Rose Garden. We took the doggies for a walk and checked out the blooming roses. Lots of other people had the same idea to enjoy the flowers- there were numerous picnics and even a wedding taking place.

Lunch at Flor de Maiz

Flor de Maiz

Finally, we wrapped up our restaurant tour with a stop for Mexican food at Flor de Maiz. Did we eat a lot? Yes. Do I regret it? Not one bit 🙂

I don’t need to tell all of you why you need to plan a Spring trip to Santa Barbara (or any other time of year!) But hopefully you’ve gotten a few tips for your next visit. See you there!
