On a recent Friday, my company gave all employees the day off to enjoy the summer. I convinced Steve to take it off as well and we made it a great day with lunch at Petit Valentien.
We started off with a nice beach walk with the dogs at Butterfly Beach – our favorite! After getting cleaned up, we made the short walk from our house to downtown Santa Barbara for lunch at Petit Valentien.
We had been here a couple of times before, and it is our friend Carl’s favorite lunch spot in Santa Barbara. It is a small French and Ethiopian restaurant situated in a quintessential Santa Barbara courtyard.
We both enjoyed the roasted beets, poached pear and whipped lemon goat cheese as a starter. Then we selected the Petrale Sole, lemon and capers paired with a glass of French rose. It was a great lunch – delicious, the right amount of food and the price can’t be beat for the quality!
After lunch at Petit Valentien, Steve suggested we continue on with our adventure with a wine tasting at Au Bon Climat. I have written about Au Bon Climat before; it’s one of our favorites.
It was a wonderful way to spend a Friday off from work. We slowly ambled home and took a nap!
