Interesting immersive theater in London this summer

Update for July 2022: I’m republishing a couple of my favorite London focused posts because, well, I’m in London right now! 🙂 I am completely psyched to see The Burnt City immersive experience while I am in London. There are a few spoilers online, but I’m avoiding those, focusing on posts about the Greek mythology that the show is based on. Check out one such video below. And photos to come in a future post…. More Spring book picks with historical fiction from Kate

After reading Amy’s recent post on her recent book picks, I wanted to share what’s in my own bedside pile. Here are a few that I have enjoyed lately. And now, with more Spring book picks, you’ll have no excuse having nothing to read 🙂 And all of these books are available in paperback- which makes them less expensive and easier to pack in your weekend getaway bag!

A few excellent Spring book picks to keep us reading

It’s an interesting time we’re living through right now. Many of us are traveling again. And it feels like our schedules are getting packed, especially with Spring celebrations around the corner. I did a fair amount of reading (and other hobbies, new and old) during the pandemic. Many of us established a great habit of reading more. But now I am feeling a push and a pull with reading. Traveling is such a great time to read. And yet it’s so easy to occupy ourselves with other pleasures as the world reopens. In an effort to hold on to a pandemic habit of reading, I’m sharing a few Spring book picks that might interest you.

A few newsletters + podcasts to challenge your thinking

I kicked off 2021 with a few self-improvement newsletters, and now I’m back with a few ideas to challenge your thinking. You may not agree with everything that some of these writers say (I don’t!) But hear them out- they are sensible, thoughtful writers trying to make the world a better place. And I respect them for that. Most of these newsletters can be paired with a related podcast; some are available on YouTube as well.

How to get ready for International Correspondence Writing Month

Last February, I had such a good time doing International Correspondence Writing Month that I wanted to repost what I wrote last year about the month-long event. I’ll be participating again in 2022, but I don’t think I’m looking for a lot of new penpals-I’ve already got 10+ and I am maxed out 🙂 It is so fun to get letters from all over the world… do consider doing it this year!

Best newsletters of 2021 for self improvement

Newsletters are the hot thing right now. This isn’t a post about the financial motivations behind the movement of a lot of writers to newsletters. But it does seem to be a real trend; some great content is appearing only in newsletters these days. I’ve jumped on the bandwagon, and I’m sharing some of the best newsletters I’ve come across in 2021. I’ve got a long list, so this post will focus on the best newsletters with a focus on self-improvement. I’ll cover entertainment and politics/current events in future posts.

A taste of Paris (and Sting!) on a rainy Bay Area day

Who knows when we will feel confident about traveling to Europe. I consider myself somewhat adventurous, but I am just not ready to book tickets to Paris or London right now. It just feels too dicey…Instead, I’m looking for little things to tide me over until that day that I touch down in CDG! And I’ve found a taste of Paris for your workday enjoyment…

On finally seeing “No Time to Die” in the theatre

On Sunday, I finally made it to the movie theatre in Moraga to see “No Time to Die.” I’ve already written a bit about all the prep I did in advance of the movie. After two years of anticipation, I wanted to be ready for the movie! And since it has been well over two years since I stepped into a movie theatre, I treated myself to popcorn and junior mints. My favorite combo from childhood 🙂
