Easy summer self-care with French pharmacy beauty products

It may be a bit trite to say that the French have cornered the market on inexpensive beauty products. But honestly, it’s true! When in doubt, just buy what a French woman might find at her local pharmacy. Not only are you assured of something high quality, but the price will likely be quite reasonable. On top of that, these items make my Francophile heart sing 🙂

A taste of French beauty… from Amazon

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to France, and I can’t wait to get back (although I think London might be at the top of my list…) And part of the joy of travel is finding new treasures along the way. I’ve tried a lot of French pharmacy beauty products over the years. And I was delighted to discover a couple of years ago that many of them are available on Amazon. So although a brown Amazon box certainly doesn’t replace an arrival at CDG, at least it’s an easily accessible taste of France.

The following are a few of my edited favorites. Most come in travel friendly sizes for your summer travels. Let me know what your French pharmacy beauty products picks are in the comments!

Sunscreen

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Light Fluid Face Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 60

I love the compact package, the fun little shake you give it each time you use it, and how it feels on my face. No white film after it soaks in! And it’s perfect for travel- TSA-compliant and you can squeeze it in the corner of your toiletry bag.

Facial cleanser

L’Occitane Oil-to-Milk Facial Makeup Remover

Apparently oil-based facial cleansers are all the rage, but I like this one because it feels great. Almost like washing your face with olive oil (which it may very well be!) It does take off makeup very well, but I use it whether I’m wearing makeup or not (hello WFH!)

Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Ultra Rich Foaming Gel

While oil based cleansers are usually my go-to- they just feel nicer on my skin- in the summer, something foaming can be reassurance that all the dirt and sweat is really getting cleaned off. This Bioderma gel has that tiny bit of soapy feeling, but it’s designed for dry skin. Best of both worlds!

Dry oil, for everything!

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil

I saved the best for last. You guys, this stuff is amazing. You can use it as a body oil, hair conditioner, facial moisturizer. In a pinch, as an evening moisturizer for your face. Honestly, if I only had one French pharmacy beauty product to recommend, this would be it. And it smells divine! It comes in a few varieties, but I love the original.

There are a ton of French pharmacy beauty products out there- but this is my highly edited short list. A little bit of France every evening as I get ready for bed- parfait!
