Great California shopping: JetPens

I’ve written a bit about JetPens on an earlier occasion. And I’ve certainly documented my love of paper, pens etc. But with the receipt of a recent order, I wanted to share the unboxing of my JetPens package…and a bit more about this great California online store.

I purchased a few things recently that I wanted to share with you. I’ve been generally impressed with the unboxing of products from various stationery shop. From Baum-Kuchen to the Journal Shop, stationery shops seem to take a lot of pride in creating a beautiful package for customers. Kraft paper, wash tape, stickers all seem to be the norm. But not for JetPens! JetPens seems to be more focused on making sure your items arrive in perfect shape, rather than on a beautiful unboxing experience. Lots of bubble wrap!

The main reason for this order was to get some fountain pen ink (yes, you can never have too much!) So perhaps all that bubble wrap was warranted. This ink gets good reviews for shimmer, and I don’t have a similar color… that’s what I am telling myself!

I’m trying to get more organized during this (extended) period of working home. And instead of using boring old manila folders, these look a lot cuter. Plus, cats!

Y’all I am getting into this fountain pen thing- and evidence for that is the purchase of this ink syringe. I haven’t used it yet…thank goodness there’s a good demo on the site.

And this gold clip is a lot prettier than the jumbo Staples version I was using.

And since it was Fountain Pen Day 2020 (in November), they included a couple of freebies in my JetPens order. Nice touch!

Not only does JetPens have a terrific online shopping experience, with a lot of product information and generally very helpful reviews. It also has a great YouTube channel with frequent new videos covering a range of useful…

…and sometimes silly topics. It’s worth checking out.

One thing to note- it usually takes 4-5 days before they ship out an order. Maybe it’s due to COVID, or a surge of interest in stationery, pens and the like. But whatever the reasons, don’t expect to receive your order for at least a week or so (and that’s when it’s basically traveling 30 miles from San Jose!) I think Amazon is training many of us to expect an almost miraculous turnaround of orders- sometimes the very next day. It’s not really fair to have the same expectations of smaller retailers- but there it is.

Just writing this post and browsing the latest at JetPens has me filling my shopping cart again! Yikes… it’s time for a break. The one upside is that stationery is a guilt-free and (generally) lower cost hobby. That’s what I tell myself at least 🙂
