An update from June 2022: The Smythson summer sale has started for 2022. There’s still lots of good stuff– particularly notebooks (my personal favorite!) Also lovely: bags, wallets, all those great accessories Smythson is known for.

Just a quick heads up to let you know that the Summer Sale at Smythson has started (for “Smythson VIPs” like me- ha! proof that anyone can be a VIP if you sign up for their newsletter!) And if you are asking “what’s Smythson?” well, you have a real treat ahead!
Smythson is a legendary British brand of leather goods. They started out in 1887 making beautiful notebooks (and you know how I feel about stationery!) They have branched out to handbags, small leather goods and luxurious items like this.
But lucky for me, they continue to produce a wide range of stationery- notebooks of all sizes, writing folders, and lovely zip around portfolios. And even though I’m still working at home, I love using these items during my workday (and beyond.) And perhaps one day, I’ll be showing them off at the office.
Of course, there is a catch. All this lovely, handmade Britishness comes with a cost- the price! The normal prices of Smythson items are high- eyewateringly high. So when there’s a sale… this is the time to act. Especially if you are particularly about a color or style.
I must admit that my Smythson purchases to date have not been from Smythson directly. There’s a decent amount of Smythson on eBay (as long as you aren’t too picky about colors or having someone else’s monogram on your item!) And The RealReal and The Outnet have limited selections- they are good options if you just want to try the brand out. But trust me! You will be hooked.
