I really love a long, leisurely lunch. It doesn’t happen often, and when it does, it’s usually on vacation. But I’ve been trying to add family lunches to our routine, and we recently headed to Doppio Zero in Concord for pizza. It was really terrific and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.
Kate and I really love pizza. And I love thin crust pizza, straight from a pizza oven. So when I read that Doppio Zero has award-winning pizza and a pizza oven onsite, I made a reservation for Sophie, Dear Husband and me to head out to Concord for lunch.
Doppio Zero is in a new outdoor shopping area called The Veranda. It’s the sort of area that makes clear that Concord is rapidly gentrifying. There are a number of cool restaurants in the center, a Sephora, and a “luxury theater” with food and beverage service at your seat.
During our visit, there were lots of families and shoppers out and about. It felt very safe, but these days, who knows?
We ordered pizza (of course!) but also got a couple of appetizers- meatballs, lentil soup and fried potato balls with cheese sauce. All were excellent!
I had to add this photo of Sophie- the rare sighting of a (almost) college girl out of bed and (sort of) dressed before 1pm. It’s a miracle! 🙂 But honestly, the restaurant wasn’t that busy at noon- maybe everyone else was sleeping in too!
Right outside the restaurant was a nice seating area with a fire pit and fountain. We sat there for a few minutes enjoying the lovely Bay Area weather and marveling at how far Concord has come before returning home.
