You all may know that I am a Smythson super fan! While I try my best to buy my Smythson notebooks on sale, the sad truth is that they aren’t going to be putting 2023 planners on sale anytime soon. Nevertheless, I placed my order for my planners from Smythson and Hobonichi, and I’ve just received them both. Even though we’ve got 3 months to go in 2022, I’m already excited for next year!
Planners from Smythson- Cosmic Travel and a fun surprise
I have been loving my 2022 Cosmic Travel Diary, which is one of the few planners from Smythson with one page per day. I like my lists, so I need the space 🙂 The colors this year were a little funky- I was really hoping for the camel leather (I think they call it rosewood) but alas, it was not offered. And pale green or red is just too much for a planner that I look at all day long, for 365 days. So navy it is, once again. No complaints- I love navy!
And I just got an email announcing the newest of the planners from Smythson- an absolutely adorable “My First Smythson” journal for kids. It’s in tangerine leather and I am in love! It’s not cheap (nothing from Smythson ever is…) at $275. But that tangerine leather, the multi-colored ribbons, the fun templates… I really wish I knew someone with an 8-11 year old girl. I’d love to get someone else hooked on Smythson at an early age 🙂
Hobonichi 5 Year A5 Diary
I’m just wrapping up my 10th year in my Levenger few lines a day journal. Sadly, Levenger no longer makes the 10 year version (although the 5 year journal is still produced) so I had the opportunity to check out some different options. And since I’ve moved to daily planners from Smythson rather than the Hobonichi Techo, I wanted to check out the Hobonichi version of the 5 year diary.
It’s in A5 size, and it has the wonderful Tomoe River paper which is so great for fountain pens. I am very much looking forward to using it each morning for the next 5 years. There is an option to use it for 10 years, should I divide up the blank page for each day into another 5 blocks for text.
I ordered from the Japanese site so I could get the leather cover. I do recommend springing for a cover- the book will get a lot of wear over 5-10 years and you don’t want it falling apart. Plus just think how cool that natural leather will look after years of wear.
It’s great to have my planner line-up ready to go for 2023. The fun part begins in December when I set them up, start adding in appointments and reminders. And I might need to give that My First Smythson another look… maybe it would work for a 50 something Smythson fan??
