A selection of some good tips I’ve come across recently

This post is a bit of a grab bag of helpful tips I’ve come across recently. Not much of a central theme- other than I found them all helpful. A couple are old ones that I love so much, I had to include them here ๐Ÿ™‚

A good tip: Always get an ice cream (or two). I mean, duh.

Getting ready for 2023 with new planners from Smythson and Hobonichi

You all may know that I am a Smythson super fan! While I try my best to buy my Smythson notebooks on sale, the sad truth is that they aren’t going to be putting 2023 planners on sale anytime soon. Nevertheless, I placed my order for my planners from Smythson and Hobonichi, and I’ve just received them both. Even though we’ve got 3 months to go in 2022, I’m already excited for next year!

Visiting Choosing Keeping in London- what a beautiful shop!

One of the most anticipated parts of our recent trip to England was visiting Choosing Keeping in London. I’ve written about their wonderful stationery and beautifully wrapped online orders a couple of times. So it was a real treat to visit the actual shop in person.

How to stay in touch with college kids

Sophie is on her way to officially being a college kid. But before that happens, she’s got a lot of adventures in progress and coming up. She’s spending most of the summer as a camp counselor in Washington state. And then she’ll be traveling in Europe for most of the Fall. Finally, she’ll be settling down as a college student in January on the East Coast. She’s all over the place! ๐Ÿ™‚

So I’m giving some thought to how to best keep up with her. Perhaps you can pick up a few tips for how to stay in touch with college kids of your own.

A beautiful package from London’s Choosing Keeping

Update for July 2022: I’m republishing a couple of my favorite London focused posts because, well, I’m in London right now! ๐Ÿ™‚ I will definitely be stopping by Choosing Keeping during my visit. Maybe I need a new notebook? (when do I not need a new notebook!) Photos to come in a future post…. Cheers!

It’s never a bad day when you get a DHL package- it likely means you just received something from an international shop! I’ve written about how special Choosing Keeping in London is earlier this year. I’m back to share what how beautiful Choosing Keeping packaging is. Other stationery companies should take note ๐Ÿ™‚

How to prepare for becoming an empty nester

Sophie is graduating from high school next week. I still can’t believe it- how can this be?? And I am starting to realize that becoming an empty nester can go smoothly…or it can go quite badly. I am determined to make the best of it!

Four ways to get ready for RTO-WFH hybrid life

I’m reposting this article from October… Looks like we are finally going back to the office this month (as are many of you.) I’ve updated some of my recommendations based on my preparations over the past couple of weeks. It’s a big transition and I’m doing my best to make it as easy and stress-free as possible!

Much to my dismay, I’ll be heading back to the office in the next few months. But luckily, I’ll be working from home at least 2-3 days a week. So as I start to get ready for RTO (return to office), I’m being thoughtful about what I can do now for my future hybrid life. Like most things in life, doing a bit in advance can really lower your stress.

What to expect on the 10th annual Fountain Pen Day!

November 5th, 2021 is the 10th annual Fountain Pen Day, and I’m looking forward to celebrating it with all those other fountain pen lovers out there. As you may know, I’ve gone pretty deep into this hobby. Last year, I was vaguely aware of the celebration, but I didn’t really celebrate appropriately. This year is going to be different!

Sad news, it’s my final order from CW Pencil Enterprise

CW Pencil Enterprise is such a unique store, and it was a sad day when I heard that they were closing permanently. I understand that people need to move on and do new things, but where will I get my very unique pencils from now on? Luckily, I placed an order for a few things right after I heard the news about the store closure. I’m sharing what I picked up. If anything is of interest to you, hurry over there and place an order before it’s gone!

Getting the most out of the 2021 SF Pen Show as a newbie

I’ve been diving deep into the world of stationery and pens over the past year and a half (yes, one of those COVID hobbies!) And I’m especially interested in fountain pens. So I was very excited to hear that the SF Pen Show was taking place, after skipping 2020…for all the expected reasons.

I am relatively new to the hobby, so I wanted to make sure I was ready- I watched a couple of videos on pen shows. But as a newbie, I think there are a few other things that more seasoned attendees don’t usually mention.
