As we all explore new hobbies and activities during this strange time, Steve and I have taken up tennis with some tennis lessons here in Santa Barbara. It gets us out of the house and provides a different type of exercise than what we usually get. And it’s been lovely to spend time outside during these warm winter days.
To be honest, we have both played casually earlier in life, but neither of us would say we are very good! Then I saw a post on a local Facebook group that the Ritz Carlton Tennis Center at the Bacara was offering a class package of tennis lessons in Santa Barbara. So I signed us up as a Christmas present for the two of us.
The package for lessons is simple. We each get five 30 minute solo lessons with a tennis pro. We signed up for 5 Sundays in a row, in hopes that we would see some consistent improvement this way. And we have also joined the Santa Barbara municipal tennis courts. That way, we can reserve a court whenever we want to play. It wasn’t a huge investment, and we are always looking for another way to be active and get outside.
We’ve invested in a few things to get us started in our tennis journey.

It’s been so much fun to take tennis lessons in Santa Barbara, especially with the gorgeous winter weather we’ve been having this year. I’m excited to introduce a new sport into our repertoire.
