Great travel-sized beauty products for your next trip

On a recent trip to Charlotte, I brought a few great travel-sized beauty products in my bag to make the experience a little nicer. It really made the challenges of travel more pleasant to have a few special things to use every morning and evening.

Thoughts on surviving August, the worst month of the year

I am not a fan of August, as you can tell from the title of this post! And I am not alone in this sentiment; many others can’t stand the worst month of the year either. But alas, it’s not going anywhere, so I’ve thought of some tips for surviving August. Maybe even love it? No way in hell. (Because August feels like hell, let’s be honest.)

Pampering myself with a few new beauty buys

Summer is a time when I usually go super low-maintenance. When it’s hot, the last thing I feel like doing is trying new lotions or mascaras. That’s what Fall is for ๐Ÿ™‚ But this Summer, it’s been relatively cool and I’ve been in the mood to try some new beauty buys. Luckily, there is no shortage of pampering products out there.

Diving back into the Robert Caro’s books on LBJ’s life

After a long hiatus, I’ve started back in on the Robert Caro books. I was on a tear about seven years ago, when I plowed through The Power Broker and The Path to Power. I was inspired by this Farnam Street post about reading just 25 pages a day. Of course, 25 pages in Robert Caro’s books are pretty dense and consuming! Especially compared to my usual reading habits.

Want to do more writing? Consider NaNoWriMo

As I creep closer and closer to retirement, I’ve been thinking about what I want to do with my days. And I know I want to do more writing. I’ve participated in InCoWriMo (International Correspondence Writing Month) in the past, and it resulted in some wonderful letters back and forth across the globe. But this time, I’m interested in NaNoWriMo– National Novel Writing Month. It starts in 2 days- July 1. And if you want to do more writing- it’s for you! The goal is to write a novel in one month ๐Ÿ™‚

Why I love ordering from Good Eggs

I can’t believe in over three years of writing this blog, I’ve never written a post about why I love ordering from Good Eggs. Because it’s really a great company and I have lots of great things to say. Plus a few shopping tips for using the service.

Some things to pack for a great trip to Rancho la Puerta

Reposting in June 2023: Kate will be heading back to the Ranch for a solo trip shortly. So this is a great opportunity to remind her (and everyone else!) about what we suggest bringing in your suitcase. These items will make your trip easier and more fun!

During our recent trip to Rancho la Puerta, Kate and I compiled a list of a few things we were glad we brought (or wished we brought!) Here’s a rundown of what to bring to Rancho la Puerta-a few things to add to your shopping list that you might not have thought of.

Five great things about the St. Regis Punta Mita

We recently had took a quick trip to the St. Regis hotel in Punta Mita, Mexico. It was a wonderful chance to spend time with Sophie before her busy summer starts. A dear friend recommended the hotel, and she was right on point with her recommendation (thank you dear friend, you know who you are!) And there were in particular five great things about the St. Regis Punta Mita that you need to know about.
