What is happening with the crazy prices of fashion these days??

Phoebe Philo dropped her first collection this week. And my first reaction was not “wow, how beautiful” but “OMG, look at the crazy prices of fashion!” And she’s not alone- several recent releases seem to be pushing the envelope for what people will pay.

Things to do now before your Fall closet switchover

We’re at least 6 weeks away from the Fall closet switchover here in Northern California. Just when you think it’s time to get the sweaters out, Indian summer arrives. And with it can come the hottest temperatures of the year. However, there are a few tasks that really need to be done now (or even in August- gasp!) if you want to be prepared for the Fall closet switchover.

I am still going strong on my mindful spending for 2023. And I am excited to extend this approach to my spring clothing shopping. I think all our recent estate planning efforts have made me rethink how much stuff I have, everywhere. I want to be very thoughtful about what I bring into the house at this point.

I’m ready for amazing Black Friday sales (and beyond!)

We are about to enter into quite an amazing Black Friday sales period. And this year, if you can wait, I think we are going to see record-breaking sales through mid January. Why? Retailers are chockfull of inventory, and they are going to need to move it out as Spring deliveries start rolling in.

Some helpful suggestions to improve retailers’ return reasons

I am not afraid to return a product if I don’t like it or it doesn’t work for me. So I am pretty close to an expert at spotting the strategies retailers use to slow down or discourage returns. I even noticed when the Gap brands switched return processing vendors- from Narvar to Optoro. And one thing that drives me nuts is retailers’ return codes. Are they really trying to use the data captured by this process? If so, they need to re-evalaute their return codes. And I’m here to help.
