Five great things about the St. Regis Punta Mita

We recently had took a quick trip to the St. Regis hotel in Punta Mita, Mexico. It was a wonderful chance to spend time with Sophie before her busy summer starts. A dear friend recommended the hotel, and she was right on point with her recommendation (thank you dear friend, you know who you are!) And there were in particular five great things about the St. Regis Punta Mita that you need to know about.

Prioritizing spending time with the people we love

Dearest Sophie is home from college for the summer. It’s easy to let this summer just melt away. It feels like a long time (almost four months!) Why do we need to make a concerted effort to spend time with the people we love? Because despite what we may tell ourselves every day, time is short. And we could be gone tomorrow. We have to prioritize time with our people, right now.

Lovely hotel in Tomales Bay for people and dogs :)

Dear Husband and I recently spent three wonderful days in Tomales Bay. And one of the highlights was staying at Nick’s Cove in Marshall, CA. It’s a great hotel in Tomales Bay, plus they take dogs! So we packed up the car with our gear, as well as Cheddar’s, and headed out for three days.

How to spend a terrific three days in Tomales Bay

I’ve written about our Marin day trips over the past few years, but this is the first time I’ve ever spent three days in Tomales Bay. And it was terrific! I’ve got some tips for things to do and where to eat- and I’ll follow up with a post on the great hotel where we stayed for two nights.

Wrapping up our Yountville trip with a few quick recommendations

I’ve already shared with you our fun dinner at the RH restaurant and lunch and mud baths in Calistoga. But we packed a lot into our Yountville trip, and I want to share a few final recommendations before wrapping this topic up. (for now!)

Checking out the new Four Seasons in Calistoga

During our recent jaunt to Yountville over Sophie’s spring break, we stopped by the new Four Seasons in Calistoga. We walked around the property and had a terrific lunch at the poolside restaurant, Campo. It looks like it’s going to be an amazing long weekend spot once things warm up a bit.

A trip to Taliesin West for inspiration during an Arizona weekend

Steve and I recently visited friends in Phoenix for a long weekend. Most of our visit consisted of catching up and relaxing; it was actually a perfect weekend! For a little culture, our hostess bought tickets for us to visit Taliesin West. I didn’t really know what to expect except that is a compound built by Frank Lloyd Wright.  After our visit, I’d definitely recommend a trip to Taliesin West to anyone visiting Scottsdale.

Mom-daughter bonding during college tours in NYC and Boston

Update in January 2023: In honor of Sophie starting her freshman year in Boston, I wanted to republish my recap of our trip together to see colleges. The process is complete!

My daughter Sophie and I seem to be in a routine of spending a week together each summer. And hard to believe it has been one year since our fun trip to Cabo. This year was a bit different; we traded the beach for a high school ritual this past week. Which meant spending 6 days doing college tours in NYC and Boston.

It was the first time Sophie had been to either city, and it had been a few years for me too. So we had a lot of fun exploring the colleges on her list, seeing a bit of the two cities, and spending time together. She’ll be going off to college (somewhere!) in a year, and I am savoring every moment with her. All our lives will be changing soon…

I’ll hit the highlights of our week together… starting with a stop at the Sour Patch Kids store in NYC. Honestly, what will they think of next??
